Verification is the core safety promise of SaathWala. This page explains what we ask for, why, how we handle it, and how long we keep it.

In short: we never store your full Aadhaar number, we never share your document with anybody, and we delete the document image within 30 days of reviewing it.

1. Why we verify

To confirm that every member and companion is a real adult aged 18 or over.
To stop one person opening several accounts, including after a ban.
To make fake and misrepresented profiles far harder to create.

2. What we ask for

Members: the Aadhaar number and a photo or PDF of the Aadhaar card. Needed before your first contact reveal.
Companions: the same, plus a live selfie taken with the front camera during signup. We check it shows a real person present at the time and compare it with the document by eye.

3. Aadhaar is voluntary

You share your Aadhaar by choice and only for identity and age verification. We use it for nothing else.
We recommend masked Aadhaar, downloadable from the UIDAI website, which hides the first eight digits.
If you would rather not use Aadhaar, contact support and we will verify you with a passport, driving licence or voter ID instead.
We are not an Aadhaar authentication agency. We do not connect to UIDAI, and we never collect fingerprints, iris scans or OTPs.

4. What we store, and for how long

5. Who can see it

Only named members of our verification team, through an internal tool that records who opened which document and when. Other members see only the verified badge. We disclose verification records to authorities only when the law requires us to.

6. If verification is rejected

We tell you why, usually an unreadable image, a name or age mismatch, or a document already linked to another account. You can resubmit. If you think we made a mistake, use the grievance process.

7. What a badge does not mean

A verified badge means the document looked genuine and matched the profile. It is not a police check or a guarantee of conduct. Please read our safety guidance.
