First Meeting With a Companion: A 10-Point Safety Checklist

Meeting a companion for the first time? A practical 10-point safety checklist: verification, public places, transport, payments and what to do if something feels wrong.

Whether you are meeting a companion for a wedding, a garba night or a coffee, the same ten habits keep first meetings safe. They take two minutes and work for members and companions alike.

Before you meet

  1. Check the verified badge. On SaathWala it means a person checked the ID and the companion took a live selfie.
  2. Talk first. A short WhatsApp chat or call tells you a lot. Be cautious if someone refuses any voice contact.
  3. Agree the plan in writing. Occasion, place, start and end time.
  4. Never pay an advance to someone you have not met. SaathWala never asks you to pay anyone outside the platform.
  5. Tell a friend. Share the profile name, venue and when you expect to be home.

On the day

  1. Meet somewhere busy and public. A mall, a popular café, a well-lit market. Each city page lists good options, for example Noida or Mumbai.
  2. Arrange your own transport both ways. Do not accept a pick-up from home.
  3. Keep your phone charged and share your live location.
  4. Do not go somewhere private. No homes, hotel rooms or unplanned second venues.
  5. Trust your instincts. If something feels off, leave. You owe no one an explanation.

If something goes wrong

Call 112 in an emergency. The women's helpline is 181 and cyber fraud can be reported on 1930. Then report the profile to us through the contact page; we suspend accounts quickly and preserve records. More in our safety guide and community guidelines.
